The cake, was the perfect example of how agate and geometric inspired design go hand in hand. The cake designer utilized a marbling technique to portray the beauty of layers, and blending of hues, agate exudes. This, along with the geometric base, a gold brushed hexagon, was the perfect marriage of the two design elements. We always encourage brides to be open minded, yet stay true to themselves. Anyone can create a wedding that will leave an impression whether they choose to stay inside the box, balance on the lines of its edges, or completely jump outside!!

Five-year-old Sugary & Chic Cake Boutique prides itself on completely custom cakes–down to the last ingredient. “Couples with dietary restrictions or those simply choosing to eat more health-consciously should not feel deterred from ordering a wedding cake to meet their needs,” says owner Sheron Madden. “With the wealth of alternate flours and sweeteners, no one has to skimp on style or taste.” That’s why seasonal flavors are “endless,” as are Madden’s unexpected pairings like basil cake with organic strawberry buttercream (seen above in the first slide, far left, and fourth slide), in five tiers covered with housemade marshmallow fondant and climbing sugar ivy. Each leaf was hand-cut, painted and placed.

Today’s styled shoot is the result of mixing a bit of vintage, a dash of modern, and a hint of glam into one truly stylish event. Joey T Photography, Two Be Wed, and Oui Floral pooled their collective talents to highlight masculine vs feminine elements — IE, the angular lines typical of Art Deco contrasted against the bride’s tulle skirt and lush, tall centerpieces.

A key element in the overall table designed was the hand selected, mix-matched china. We mixed two patterns from Bering’s, Robert Haviland Syracuse Taupe and Jaune de Chrome. While the Robert Haviland pieces provided an art deco inspired pattern, the Jaune de Chrome pattern was the perfect choice for a more masculine and industrial feel. This unique pattern is created by a special technique that combines rich, metallic glazes with refined colors. We had Sugary and Chic replicate this pattern onto the cake with an unusual shape to highlight the modern design and unique structure of the space.

...Color is everything in Indian weddings, so Natalie Dawley from Two Be Wed helped Naina and Scott bring out a vibrant palette of purples, pinks and gold at the morning Indian ceremony and added navy and emerald green for the formal evening ceremony. Naina and Scott chose a quatrefoil motif to unite all parts of the day, highlighting the design in the invitations and paper goods and custom lighting and on the tabletops and even their wedding cake to add a modern touch to the elegance of the Corinthian in Houston, Texas...

While we’ve been fortunate enough to work with Two Be Wed in the past, the shoot was made even sweeter partnering with Now and Forever Bridal Boutique, Sculpting with Time Videography, Oui Floral, Monrreal & Co., Johanna Terry Events, Party Cloths, Sugary and Chic Boutique and the extremely talented photographer, Joey T, of Joey T Photography! In fact, the shoot required so many talented wedding professionals that it actually served as a great reminder as to what all our Bering’s couples are going through in planning their own weddings...

Unique, elegant, and jaw-droppingly beautiful, this inspiration shoot designed by Two Be Wed is reminiscent of an Asian botanical garden. The luxurious Houston setting—a private club—features lovely Chinoiserie wallpaper and a dramatic fireplace, and was the perfect setting to bring to life a modern spin on Chinoiserie. Like the wallpaper, the ceremony backdrop and all of the stationery from The Weekend Type was hand-painted. A fresh color palette of emerald green and watermelon set the stage, with vintage floral vessels intermingled with Asian figurines. Not a single centerpiece from The Moss & Rose was alike, each with a mix of fuchsia, green and periwinkle blooms. Bamboo details echo the Asian theme, from the console table to the gold bamboo elements in the modern cake from Sugary and Chic Cake Boutique. Each detail is jaw-droppingly stunning, as is each image from Alyse French Photography!

Ashley Dernick of Recollection Vintage Rentals is expecting a little boy in January, and her best friend Vargo happens to be expecting a little girl near the same time! They both hosted sweet showers for each other, and this darling fox themed baby shower was Vargo's event held in honor of Ashley with some hosting help from Ashley's mom and sister. The cutest little fox invitation set by Jessica's Invitesset the theme and look of the shower. They brought in fall elements and decor, making it a perfect fit for the season. Guests enjoyed a tasty menu that included sandwiches from Ashley's favorite Houston market and her mom's beloved Chicken Tortilla Soup. Guests also enjoyed a super cute coordinating cake by Sugary and Chic Cake Boutique. Everyone got to take a little sweetness home, too, from the fun popcorn bar. All of the lovely photos were captured by Kimberly Chau Photography, and you can see more over in the full gallery!
